CLAN AND CARE LIGHTING

Large chandeliers must be cleaned and assembled by experienced professionals who know how to take them apart, to clean every part and to place everything correctly.

The most important thing to remember when you are cleaning your chandelier is to treat it gently. Crystals can be scratched and damaged easily if not handled properly and the chandelier frame can be ruined if you are not careful.
Remember to clean fingerprints after hanging the fixture or changing bulbs.

CLEANING FREQUENCY

Small and medium-sized chandeliers should be dusted regularly in order to avoid more integral cleaning procedures.

The cleaning frequency will depend on where the lighting fixture is. Hallways and near kitchen chandeliers tend to need a more frequent cleaning. Generally, a lighting fixture is cleaned every 12 months.

METAL FIXTURES

Metal fixtures are protected with a coat of clear UV varnish to keep the finish from tarnishing. For this reason, the brass polish is not necessary.

Prevent this protection coating from harsh cleaning products as these may lead to a tarnished finish. Do not use damp cloths, abrasive cleaners or water on the metal as these can damage the surface.
Dust regularly with a soft dry cloth.

CRYSTAL FIXTURES

Wipe the crystal surface and all the accent pieces with a clean, soft cloth on a regular basis to maintain the brilliance of the crystals. Always use soft, cotton cloths. Paper towels and disposable dusting cloths can scratch the crystals.

DRY CLEANING

Dry cleaning is the way of cleaning dust from your lighting fixture. Use a clean and soft cloth.

WET CLEANING

You need to prepare a place to set the crystals and light bulbs before removing them.

If the structure of the‑fixture allows the crystal suspensions to be taken, that will simplify the cleaning. Just carefully wash them in cool water with special cleaning agents for crystals, then dry it with a soft cloth. Another option is to put on a pair of cotton gloves soaked in methylated spirits and gently rub the crystal and ornaments. The spirits will evaporate very quickly, so soak your gloves into the spirits often while cleaning. Be careful not to clean the metal parts.

If it is impossible to take the crystal suspensions, then carefully and without pressure, wipe the crystals with a wet and soft cloth.

Careful care and compliance with these easy recommendations. It will help you enjoy the beauty of the lamps, crystal chandeliers, and wall lamps for long years.

MARBLE FIXTURES

Marble is pure natural product so a porous material. It is a soft stone susceptible of etching and staining if not protected carefully. To retain the longevity and smoothness of the stone, it should receive regular care.

The sooner the surface is cleaned after being soiled, the lower the risk of lasting residues.

Avoid acid solutions from getting in contact with marble. Do not apply cleaning products as well vinegar, lemon juice or other cleaners containing acid.

Wiping the surfaces with warm, sudsy water and a nonabrasive sponge or soft cloth is the best method to clean marble. Nonetheless, it won’t remove etching marks or stains that have had time to permeate the surface.

CLEAN AND CARE FURNITURE

Wood is a natural material with variations of colour shade, configuration, streaks and grain structure. Each individual piece of Fairytale furniture has characteristic markings that will differ from photo and samples. These variations are not defects, they are distinctions that make each piece of furniture unique.
Fairytale applies a multi-step finish on our wood furniture to enhance the beauty of the wood surface. This finish process uses lacquer based products that are subject to damage by moisture, heat or contact with alcohol-based and oil-based products.

Never allow alcohol-based products including some cleaners, nail polish, and perfumes to come in contact with your wood furniture. They can dissolve the furniture finish, requiring professional repairs. Alcohol, perfume, after-shave and medication can cause severe finish damage.

The chemicals in the plastic or rubber may soften and injure the finish if exposed over a long period of time on your furniture. Avoid leaving newspapers and magazines directly on the wood surface. The ink can bleed into the finish and permanently damage the wood.

Fingerprints, perspiration and oils can harm a finish over time, especially on chairs. Regular cleaning is highly recommended.

Plants and flower nectar that touch the finish can also cause permanent stains. Avoid commercial cleaning products. Although the immediate results of a cleaning product may seem rewarding, the long term effects of its chemical composition with the wood, air and light may be very harmful.
Weekly cleaning is recommended. Use a clean cloth made of soft, lint-free cotton. Moisten the cloth with just enough water to make the dust adhere to it. The cloth should not be so damp that it wets the wood. Always wipe in the direction of the wood grain.

HUMIDITY AND TEMPERATURE CHANGE

Wood is very sensitive to changes in relative humidity. As the weather changes, so does the relative humidity in your home and in the moisture content of the wood in your furniture. Try and maintain stable humidity conditions in your home.

Wood is most likely to crack when the climate in a home changes suddenly from hot and humid to cool and dry.
Place furniture away from all heat sources such as radiators, heat runs or fireplaces.

If you must place furniture near an air duct, avoid direct exposure to the air flow.

SUNLIGHT

Try to keep furniture out of direct sunlight because the ultraviolet rays of the sun will damage the finish and bleach the wood underneath and prolonged exposure to sunlight will cause your furniture to look paler on those areas that are exposed.

Most modern furniture is finished with a hard wearing lacquer to give protection. All timbers can alter slightly when exposed to light; some tender to darker and some may lighter. Consequently, the position of ornaments or other objects left on surfaces should be changed regularly to avoid patches becoming noticeable. This is especially important in the first year.

GLASS

Do not slide rough objects across glass. This can cause permanent scratches to the surface.

Do not use abrasive cleaners on glass, which may cause scratches.

Do not clean glass without gently removing excessive dirt and debris first, so as not to scratch the surface.

To clean glass, chose a non-abrasive commercial glass cleaner, or use warm water and soft, lint-free cloth. Wring the excess water and wipe surface. Dry immediately with a dry lint-free cloth.
